Shakira, Adam Levine and Remaining 'Voice' Singers Come Together for Club Show
Meanwhile, the NBC hit topped Fox's "American Idol" in the 18-49 demo on Wednesday
After
the four teams on "The Voice" were whittled down to three singers each,
the contestants and the coaches journeyed from Burbank to West
Hollywood to entertain an invited crowd at the House of Blues.
With Adam Levine behind the drums, Shakira, Usher and Blake Shelton
opened the evening with the Beatles' "Come Together" before Levine
switched to guitar and jammed with Usher on Stevie Wonder's
"Superstition." Shakira, seemingly inspired by the mic stand
manipulation of "Voice" guest Rod Stewart, struck a string of rock-star
poses as Shelton and the "The Voice" band plowed through the Lady
Antebellum hit "Need You Now."
The dozen singers remaining in the competition reprised numbers that
they have performed to date, with Sasha Allen's particularly soulful
reading of the Beatles' "Oh Darling" being the highlight of the night.
I Heart Radio was streaming the event, clips of which will likely wind up in an upcoming episode.
NBC and members of "The Voice" family woke up to good news Thursday
as the show topped Fox's "American Idol" in the 18-49 demographic. Going
head-to-head Wednesday, 3.45 million viewers between the ages of 18 and
49 watched "The Voice" vs. 3.19 million viewers tuning in "Idol,"
according to Nielsen Media. In total viewership, "Idol" won 9.5 million
to 8.7 million.
