3 tbsp of tahini
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 garlic clove crushed
2 tbsp water
Salt and pepper to taste
1. In a bowl mix the tahini, lemon juice and garlic together and season with salt and pepper to taste. This should have the consistency of pouring cream. If it is too thick add a little more water.
2. Leave to stand for about 20 minutes and add more water if needed. Serve with a selection of raw vegetables and warm bread. This dip also makes a great dressing for chicken.

For the three musicians of multiplatinum band Train, 2013 has been a
year on the road bringing their music to fans around the globe -- and
prepping new music. The trio recently sat down with Billboard.com editor
M. Tye Comer (@MTye) to talk about their world tour in support of 2012's "California 37"
and the process of making that album's follow up. They also took a
moment to share and listen to the favorite songs by other musicians that
soundtracked their year -- a shortlist that included veteran artists
like Justin Timberlake and new faces like Hunter Hayes and Lorde.

"We travelled all over the world, from Asia and Australia through all
of Europe," frontman Pat Monahan reflects. "It was absolutely, by far,
the most fun we've ever had on tour." By the same token, Monahan also
says Train spent some of 2013 looking forward, prepping a new album he
has set a high standard for. "The expectations that I have for this are
too big right now so it's interfering with everything," he says. "But I
think it's because I want it to be the next level."

And while Train toured the planet and began making new music, the
group also counted themselves fans of some of the great tunes that made
2013 unique. Monahan includes Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold
Us" among his favorites. "I hope they win a ton of awards this year,"
Monahan says, listening back to the song in front of Billboard's
cameras.
Another young talent, Hunter Hayes, caught the singer's ear when he
had the chance to perform with the 22-year-old this year, making Hayes'
"I Want Crazy" stick in his mind in the process. At CMT, "Hunter asked
me to go sing with him and we did a mashup of [" I Want Crazy"] and
[Train's] "Hey Soul Sister," Monahan explains. "It was really stunning
to see how talented this kid is. You haven't even seen anything yet."
Train's Jimmy Stafford, meanwhile, praises the work of a familiar star -- Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors."
"Just Give Me A Reason," Billboard Woman of the Year P!nk's song with Fun.'s Nate Ruess, was a surprise favorite of Train's Scott Underwood. Underwood was also partial to newcomer Lorde
this year ("For a 16-year-old her voice is so mature and seasoned, and
then her lyrics are pretty sophisticated -- so she's kind of got
everything going for her," he muses.) He additionally singled out Daft
Punk's jam "Get Lucky." "You know what's great about that whole record
is the guys who were at the tip of the EDM movement -- everything was so
static and digital -- have the grooviest record right now," he says.
Ashley Monroe, who has toured on the bill with Train, also made
Monahan's list wit her song "Like A Rose." "She's got the Pistol Annies
of course, but this is where she's real magic, all by herself," he says.

The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions (and their recreation in performance), through improvisational music to aleatoric forms. Music can be divided into genres and subgenres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to personal interpretation, and occasionally controversial. Within the arts, music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and auditory art. It may also be divided among art music and folk music. There is also a strong connection between music and mathematics.[2] Music may be played and heard live, may be part of a dramatic work or film, or may be recorded.
To many people in many cultures, music is an important part of their way of life. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."[3] Musicologist Jean-Jacques Nattiez summarizes the relativist, post-modern viewpoint: "The border between music and noise is always culturally defined—which implies that, even within a single society, this border does not always pass through the same place; in short, there is rarely a consensus ... By all accounts there is no single and intercultural universal concept defining what music might be."[4]

Diary of a Crazy Artist: Our Binders Are Full of Women
The
presidential debate wasn’t even half way over when the Facebook page

countless silly images could be seen on Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, and
on blogs across the political spectrum. In case you missed it, here are

Chris Rock is a funny guy, sometimes even when he’s being serious. Case in point: the actor, who’s currently working on Grown Ups 2 among other projects, said in a recent interview with the New York Times that Grown Ups
(in case you’ve forgotten about that movie, it was one of those Adam
Sandler vehicles where he gets together with his actor buddies and they
spit out a film) is better than The Artist. Here’s the quote:
“Dude, people love Grown Ups. I don’t care what the critics say. Who won the Academy Award this year? The Artist? Hey, The Artist was great. Grown Ups is better than The Artist, and it’s better than The Artist ’cause the audience says so. No film critic’s going to say it, but Madagascar 3 is better than The Artist, and it’s better because it makes people feel better. That’s ultimately what it boils down to.”
Obviously, the implication is that box office results are an indication of how good a movie is. Grown Ups ($271 million) and Madagascar 3 ($522 million!) both handily beat The Artist ($133 million, which is amazing for a black and white silent film) at the box office. However, no one really knows how good a movie is before they throw down their $15 at the theatre. Also, let’s do an experiment – here are two groups of movies. The first set did poorly at the box office, the other set did quite well. Which group would you rather
watch?
Fight Club
Blade Runner
Citizen Kane
The Shawshank Redemption
It’s a Wonderful Life
The Big Lebowski
or
10,000 BC
Wild Hogs
Pearl Harbor
The Last Airbender
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel
Jack and Jill
