MTV Sets Dates for 2014 Movie & Video Music Awards

Mark your calendars: MTV has announced the 2014 dates for its awards shows.

The MTV Movie Awards will take place Sunday, April 13, 2014, the second year it will air before the summer, while the MTV Video Music Awards is set for Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014.

This year's MTV Movie Awards was the first time the awards show moved up from its June date in an effort to serve as a kick-off to the summer movie season. Hosted by Rebel Wilson, the 2013 event drew in more than 3.8 million viewers and grew 21% over 2012 in the network's core 12-34 demo.
