Modern jazz combo the Bridge Trio, whose members first joined forces as students at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, play two sets at Snug Harbor on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Call it a New Orleans Jazz Fest hangover, but the first Friday after the festival is relatively tame. Some musical options for Friday, May 10, 2013:
Bridge Trio, Snug Harbor, 8 and 10 p.m.
Drummer Joe Dyson, pianist Conun Pappas and bassist Max Moran first joined forces as students at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts under the guidance of the clarinetist Alvin Batiste. The versatile musicians perform with other artists – they backed Batiste, as well as saxophonist Donald Harrison Jr.; Dyson was the last-minute substitute drummer for pop singer/songwriter/violinist Theresa Andersson at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. But they have forged a viable modern jazz trio of their own; the Bridge Trio released its self-titled CD of original music in 2012.
Rotary Downs, d.b.a., 10 p.m.
One of New Orleans’ most consistently adventurous and ambitious indie-rock units, Rotary Downs continues to evolve its style of art-pop. After several roster changes over the years, Rotary Downs now consists of Chris Colombo, Michael Girardot, James Marler, Jason Rhein, Alex Smith, and Zack Smith.
Big K.R.I.T., Howlin’ Wolf, 10 p.m.
Mississippi-born rapper Big K.R.I.T. has forged productive alliances with Wiz Khalifa and New Orleans’ Curren$y, resulting in various mixtapes and tours. His is a decidedly Southern voice in rap. Island Def Jam released his major-label debut, “Live from the Underground,” in 2012.
